Its one of the most controversial shows on television, and has been throughout its 14 years on (and off) television. Its hard not to know or heard about Family Guy, but hopefully this post will shed some light upon the show for the uninitiated few. Family Guy is an adult animated series that follows the wild and ridiculous antics of a seemingly standard, generic, middle class American family from Rhode Island. The Griffins are made up for Mother and Father Lois and Peter, their three children, teenagers Meg and Chris and maniacal baby Stewie, as well as their dog Brian.

Throughout its broadcast, Fox network executives axed the show not once but twice due to its controversial nature and difficulty maintaining ratings due to inconsistent time slots.
Both times overwhelming audience demand brought the show back. It is now one of Fox's most popular and profitable shows, drawing in millions of loyal viewers with every new episode.
The show has received criticism for being to crude and adult for primetime television. The frequent use of the cutaway technique has become an iconic staple of the show, yet while its totally unpredictable and random nature is generally appealing to the wider audience, some critics feel lost and confused by the show's lack of convention.
Some also claim that Macfarlane's comedy masterpiece rips off The Simpsons, another iconic Fox animated program. However, while The Simpsons were first controversial at the time of its debut, Family Guy has always maintained that 'almost crossing the line' approach that keeps the show so edgy.
The show is consistently fresh and relevant to contemporary society and popular culture, as often referenced within the show. Click on the YouTube video below to see a 'best of' Family Guy Compilation. How many references did you get??
As always post what you think of the shows I've blogged about. Thanks heaps!,
